John Cazale

John Cazale (Revere, Massachusetts, 12 d'agost de 1935 − Nova York, 12 de març de 1978) va ser un actor de cinema i teatre estatunidenc. Nominat al Globus d'Or, la seva curta carrera inclou cinc pel·lícules molt reeixides com les dues primeres pel·lícules d'El padrí, totes aquestes van ser nominades com a millor pel·lícula en els Oscars (les altres tres són La conversa, Tarda negra i El caçador).

Des dels seus inicis com a actor de teatre, es va transformar en un dels actors secundaris favorits de Hollywood, començant amb El padrí de Coppola, en què interpreta Fredo, el feble germà Corleone. "Cazale va trencar cors amb personificacions d'homes volàtils, vulnerables i vacil·lants, incloent-hi el company de Pacino en el tràgic robatori en Tarda negra", va escriure David Germain d'Associated Press, que el descriu com un actor "l'intens rostre del qual és conegut per aquells seriosos fanàtics del cinema, però el seu nom sovint és oblidat". En la seva última pel·lícula, El caçador, Cazale va prendre la decisió de continuar actuant malgrat haver-se-li diagnosticat càncer de pulmó, i va morir poc després d'haver completat el seu paper. Tenia 42 anys.

Cazale va ser descrit com d'"un increïble intel·lecte, una persona extraordinària i un molt bon i dedicat artista" per Joseph Papp, productor del New York Shakespeare Festival. Un documental i tribut sobre Cazale, titulat I Knew It Was You, va ser projectat en el Festival de cinema de Sundance del 2009 i conté entrevistes a actors de la talla d'Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Gene Hackman, Richard Dreyfuss, Francis Ford Coppola i Sidney Lumet, entre d'altres.

Martin Short

Martin Hayter Short (born March 26, 1950) is a Canadian and American comedian, actor, and writer. Short is known as an energetic comedian who gained prominence for his roles in sketch comedy. He has also acted in numerous films and television shows. His awards include two Primetime Emmy Awards, two SAG Awards, and a Tony Award. Short was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2019.

He is known for his work on the television programs SCTV and Saturday Night Live. Short created the characters Jiminy Glick and Ed Grimley. He also acted in the sitcom Mulaney (2014–2015), the variety series Maya & Marty (2016), and the drama series The Morning Show (2019). He has also had an active career on stage, starring in Broadway productions including Neil Simon's musicals The Goodbye Girl (1993) and Little Me (1998–1999). The latter earned him a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and the former a nomination in the same category.

On film, Short has acted in comedy films such as Three Amigos (1986), Innerspace (1987), Three Fugitives (1989), Father of the Bride (1991), Captain Ron (1992), Clifford (1994), Father of the Bride Part II (1995), Mars Attacks! (1996), Jungle 2 Jungle (1997), Mumford (1999) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006). Short voiced roles in The Pebble and the Penguin (1995), The Prince of Egypt (1998), Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius (2001), Treasure Planet (2002), Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012), Frankenweenie (2012), and The Wind Rises (2013). He also voiced the Cat in the Hat in the PBS Kids series The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! (2010–2013).

In 2015, Short started touring nationally with the comedian Steve Martin. In 2018, they released their Netflix special An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life which received four Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Since 2021, he has co-starred in the Hulu comedy series Only Murders in the Building alongside Martin and Selena Gomez. For his performance he has earned nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award, the Golden Globe Award, and a Critics' Choice Television Award, and won a SAG Award.
