Jordi II del Regne Unit o de Hannover (en alemany Georg Augustus von Hannover) va néixer a Hannover (Alemanya) el 10 de novembre de 1683 i va morir al palau de Kensington a Londres el 25 d'octubre de 1760. Era fill del rei Jordi I (1660-1727) i de Sofia Dorotea de Brunsvic-Lüneburg (1666-1726). Va ser rei de la Gran Bretanya i d'Irlanda, duc de Brunsvic-Luneburg i Príncep elector del Sacre Imperi Romanogermànic des de l'11 de juny de 1727 fins a la seva mort. Va ser l'últim rei britànic nascut fora de la Gran Bretanya.

Amalie Sophie Marianne von Wallmoden-Gimborn, Countess of Yarmouth, born Amalie von Wendt (1 April 1704 – 19 or 20 October 1765) was the principal mistress of King George II from the mid-1730s until his death in 1760.

Born into a prominent family in the Electorate of Hanover, and married into another, in 1740 she became a naturalised subject of Great Britain and was granted a peerage for life, with the title of "Countess of Yarmouth", becoming the last royal mistress to be so honoured. She remained in England until the death in 1760 of King George II, who is believed to have fathered her second son, Johann Ludwig, Reichsgraf von Wallmoden-Gimborn. She returned to Hanover for the rest of her life, surviving the king for nearly five years.

Henrietta Howard, Countess of Suffolk (born Henrietta Hobart; 1689 – 26 July 1767) was a British courtier. She is known as the mistress of King George II of Great Britain. She was the sister of John Hobart, 1st Earl of Buckinghamshire.
